Remote Learning for Grades 5 and 6 Cohorts – June 10, 2021

Recently, you would have received a letter from our division about our decision to move our Grade 5 and Grade 6 cohorts to Remote Learning for the next two weeks, June 10th-June 23rd, inclusive. Our school remains open, and classes for all other grades continue as scheduled.  We recognize that this decision will require parents/guardians of students in these cohorts to make alternate care arrangements. HSD will accommodate children (those not required to self-isolate) of eligible critical services workers who cannot make such arrangements. We are also providing accommodation for any high-risk or special needs students in our Grades 5 & 6 cohorts. While at school, children of critical service workers will participate in and receive support for the same teacher-led remote learning that their classmates receive from home. Our teachers for the affected cohorts have started planning and have begun to contact our parents/guardians about the learning plan for the next two weeks. Today and tomorrow (Thursday, June 10th and Friday, June 11th) will be independent learning at home. Synchronous learning will commence Monday, June 14th. If you require technology to support this transition, please contact our Main Office to discuss your needs and to arrange for a contactless pickup on Friday, June 11th.Lastly, as we work our way through the updates that come our way daily, we would like to remind everyone to please check out the COVID-19 Updates link that is found on both our school and divisional websites for all the latest.
